Managing Hosts

Create a host

Creating a host can only be done by organization owner and members with Admin privileges or higher.
PREREQUISTIES

To use Dogu Agent, it needs to be installed on the host machine.

You can download Dogu Agent from the Self Device - Device Farm page in the Dogu console.

For instructions on host setup and system requirements, please refer to the Agent Installation documentation.

  1. Connect the host machine, where Dogu Agent is installed, to the network.
  2. Run Dogu Agent on the host machine.
  3. In the Dogu console, navigate to the "Device Farm" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page and click "Host" tab menu.
  4. Click on the "Add new host" button.
  5. Enter the host name and click the "Add" button.
  6. Enter the host token in the Dogu Agent token input field and click the "Connect" button.
  7. Verify in the Dogu console that the host has been successfully added.

Host information

Viewing host list can only be done by all members in organization.

Host list

  1. In the Dogu console, click on the "Device Farm" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page and click "Host" tab menu.
  2. The host list contains the following information in each column:

OS Icons

The icons represent the operating system of the host:

  • Windows
  • macOS

If the host has never been connected or if the operating system is neither Windows nor macOS, a different icon will be displayed.

Host connection status

The connection status of a host can be described as follows:

  • Connected: The host is successfully connected to the console.
  • Disconnected: The host is not connected to the console.
  • Unknown: The host is not connected to the console and its connection status cannot be determined due to an issue or failure.

Detail information

  1. In the Dogu console, click on the "Device Farm" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page and click "Host" tab menu.
  2. Click on the name of the host from the list to view its details.

Use host as a device

The use of host devices can only be done by organization owner and members with Admin privileges or higher.

The host can also be used as a device. By using it as a device, you can perform routines and script testing on the host device.

The devices connected to the host will not be affected.

  1. In the Dogu console, click on the "Device Farm" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page and click "Host" tab menu.
  2. Find the host you want to use as a device in the host list and click on the menu button(···).
  3. Click on the "Start using as device" menu.
  4. Click on the "Devices" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page in the Dogu console.
  5. Check if the device with the Host tag appears in the "Standby devices" list.

Stop using host as a device

Stopping the use of host devices can only be done by organization owner and members with Admin privileges or higher.

Stopping the use of the host as a device may result in the failure of ongoing routines and script tests.

Make sure there are no active uses of the host device before stopping its use.

The devices connected to the host will not be affected.

The host can also be used as a device. By using it as a device, you can perform routines and script testing on the host device.

  1. In the Dogu console, click on the "Device Farm" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page and click "Host" tab menu.
  2. Find the host for which you want to stop using it as a device and click on the menu button(···).
  3. Click on the "Stop using as device" menu.

Rename a host

Rename a host can only be done by organization owner and members with Admin privileges or higher.
  1. In the Dogu console, click on the "Device Farm" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page and click "Host" tab menu.
  2. Locate the host for which you want to change the name in the host list, and click on the menu button(···).
  3. Click on the "Edit host" option in the menu.
  4. Enter the new host name and click the "Save" button to apply the changes.

Revoke host token

Revoking host token can only be done by organization owner and members with Admin privileges or higher.
Revoke token

When the host token is revoked, the previous host token becomes invalid and can no longer be used. Therefore, until the revoked token is entered in Dogu Agent, the host's connection status will be 'Disconnected'.

The devices connected to that host will also have an 'Offline' connection status, which may result in the interruption of ongoing tests or remote control of the devices.

  1. In the Dogu console, click on the "Device Farm" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page and click "Host" tab menu.
  2. Find the host for which you want to regenerate the token in the host list, and click on the menu button(···).
  3. Click on the "Revoke token" menu.
  4. Click the confirmation button, and then copy the regenerated token.
  5. On the host device where Dogu Agent is running, click on the "Troubleshoot" tab.
  6. Click the "Reconnect" button.
  7. Enter the regenerated token and click the "Connect" button.

Remove a host

Removing a host can only be done by organization owner and members with Admin privileges or higher.
Connected Devices

When you delete a host, all devices connected to that host will be deleted as well. Please check if there are any devices running tests and delete them.

Deleting a device is different from "Stop Device Usage" as it completely removes all information associated with the device.
If you wish to preserve the information of a particular device, please connect it to another host within the organization and then delete that host.

  1. In the Dogu console, click on the "Device Farm" menu in the left sidebar of the organization page and click "Host" tab menu.
  2. Find the host you want to delete from the list and click on the menu button(···).
  3. Click on the "Delete host" menu.
  4. Confirm the deletion by clicking the confirmation button.
